| Pre-Season Top 5 |
1. Kobe Bryant
 - Although Kobe just won his 4th NBA championship he is still hungry for more. Kobe Bryant claimed his title as "Top Dog" by winning it all last season, I don't see him losing any leverage this season, and since Kobe won't be declining, it will be up to the rest of the pack to step their game up if they want his #1 spot. Now that Ron Artest will be playing alongside Kobe his defensive assignments will become a lot easier, this should save him some energy.
2. Dwight Howard
 - Last season we witnessed first hand what "SuperMan" can achieve when he puts the cape on. This beast averaged 20 points on 60% shooting, 15 rebounds, and close to 3 blocks in the playoffs. He also showed a little bit of offensive inconsistency. 24 ppg in the 1st round, 16 ppg in the second round, 25 ppg in the conference finals, and a lowly 15 ppg in the Finals. The NBA Finals also saw his FG% drop significantly from the previous 3 series. Dwight has a very deep team now, we will see if last years NBA Finals defeat motivated him, or took away from his confidence. Back to back DPOY awards? Most likely!
3. Lebron James
 - Lebron ended last season in a very dissapointing fashion. 66 regular season wins meant nothing once Cleveland squared off against Orlando in the conference finals. Lebron held his own during that series, it was his supporting cast that did not show up. I am expecting Lebron to be more determined than ever this season. His team has improved, we will see if King James has what it takes to take Kobe's shine.
4. Dwyane Wade
 - Wade is likely headed to his second straight scoring title this season. If he can get his team mates clicking together on the court he could be looking at an MVP award. Unlike Kobe, Dwight, and Lebron, "Flash" is not working with a team full of all-stars. His team's success rest completely on his shoulders. Although scoring is very important, Wade will need to continue keeping team mates involved in order to help them grow. Will Miami make the playoffs again? If D-Wade plays as good as we know he can, without a doubt!
5. Kevin Durant
 - The guy is not even old enough to drink and he is already among the league's elite scorers. He is also the best outside shooter among the league's top 5 scorers. You simply can not guard him. He has the green light on a team with nowhere to go but up, this makes him very dangerous. You rarely hear anyone compare Kevin Durant to anyone else because he is one of a kind. His skill set and size do not go together normally.
