Week 2 Power Rankings
1.
- The 6-1 Los Angeles Lakers needed overtime to beat two lower echelon teams. The fact of the matter is, they won the games and performed in the clutch. Kobe Bryant is looking a lot like the Kobe of 2005 who averaged 35 PPG. He has been the league's most dominant scorer early on. Even with the absence of Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum the Lakers have still found ways to win. Just imagine how good they will be once they get healthy.

2.
- The Phoenix Suns sitting at 6-1 have been on a roll. Steve Nash has been picking up large numbers of assist while leading this team back to the playoff hunt. They knocked off the Boston Celtics in Boston, this is a huge sign that they are legit.

3.
- The Boston Celtics fell to the Phoenix suns at home. This causes them to fall from the #1 spot to the number #3 spot. At 7-1 things are still rolling in Bean-Town. Players are meshing well, offense is flowing, defense has been wonderful. Boston has clearly been the best team out East so far.

4.
- The Miami Heat remain in the #4 spot. The heat have managed to win with D-Wade only cracking our top 5 scorers list twice. Six other heat players average 9 points or better, helping to take the load off of their superstar. The most pleasant surprise has been Quentin Richardson who averages 10.5 points and 6 rebounds after being traded 10 trillion times during the off-season.

5.
- The Atlanta Hawks at 5-2 are sitting pretty at 3rd place in the Eastern Conference. The new additions have fit in very well and the Hawks have looked very solid. Their super-star Joe Johnson is playing up to his normal expectations while new-comer Jamal Crawford is averaging 18 points off the bench on 48% shooting. Big man Al Horford is also playing well averaging a double-double.
